The Mysterious Bookshop is the oldest mystery-themed book store in America, opening its doors on a Friday the 13th in April, 1979. Since the early 2000s, The Mysterious Bookshop has been a part of Tribeca’s cultural atmosphere, providing residents of the lower Manhattan neighborhood with crime and suspense in a literary form. From the ideal location of our Tribeca apartments in NYC, residents will love heading to the bookshop to find all of their mysterious novel necessities.
The Mysterious Press
The Mysterious Bookshop’s proprietor Otto Penzler, whose books can be found amongst other titles in the bookstore, got his start when he founded Mysterious Press in 1975. The imprint focused on printing the best mystery, crime, and suspense novels, with quality acid-free paper and full-color dust jackets made by professional artists. The venture expanded over time into the three imprints that exist now: MysteriousPress.com, converting previously-published works to e-book format; the Mysterious Press at Grove/Atlantic, featuring new releases from award-winning authors; and the Mysterious Press at Highbridge Audio, producing audio versions of the Mysterious Press books.
